Top Ten Tuesday (14)

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. This week the list is Top Ten  Most Intimidating Books. I had a hard time coming up with just these five, so this week I have a Top Five list. These books are all on this list for different reasons, so here we go, in no particular order.

Top Five Most Intimidating Books

1. The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Not only is this book fairly thick but I am also scared that I won't like it. I do have plans to read it this month but I'm still scared of it.

2. A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin. All of these books are huge and I was intimidated by reading A Game of Thrones but I read it and I loved it. I can't wait to read this one but the intimidating thickness has me procrastinating reading this one.

3. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. While this one is not that big, I am intimidated by it because I've heard nothing but raves about this book and I'm worried that I won't like it as much. Though I can't wait to read it, my high expectations make me hesitate everytime.

4. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi. I LOVED Shatter Me. This book has me intimidated because I'm nervous that it will not be as good as Shatter Me. While I am scared to read this one, it's only a matter of time before I break down and read because I have to know what happens next.

5. Cinder by Marissa Meyer. This is another book that has been hyped a ton. I am scared I won't like it as much since the story line sounds like a book I wouldn't enjoy. I am curious about this one so I plan on reading it eventually.

Comments

  1. George R.R. Martin's books are intimidating, but once you read them, they are worth it. I read them a couple of years ago. When they are that big, I find it helps to break them up between books and read a couple of smaller ones.

  2. I loved Shatter Me, but Unravel Me was even better. Mafi's writing improves a lot and there's quite a few new twists (and aren't you curious about the famous chapter 62? ;) Cinder was an amazing retelling; a little predictable, but Meyer does it so well you really don't care. I also loved Pushing the Limits and The Host. Happy reading!

  3. Ohh! Pushing the Limits and Cinder! PtL was really good, but a little cliche at times - so be aware of that! And then I actually just read Cinder - and trust me when I say it's outside of my comfort zone, and once you get past the initial beginning it's actually quite good!

Hope you get the chance to read both of these soon.

  4. Cinder made my list too. I'm just not sure I like the whole cyborg thing. If you have read Perfect Chemistry and liked it you would like Pushing the Limits. I loved The Host. I actually liked it better then Twilight. It did start of really slow for me but once I got into it I couldn't put it down.

  5. The Host has been on my list for a while but I am intimidated to pick it up. I'm not a fan of Twilight so I don't want to pick it up and find out that this one isn't that good.

  6. Definitely read The Host! I actually did not love the Twilight quartet but I found myself enjoying The Host substantially more - it's a good summer read and a funky concept. It also goes by fast - like Twilight, you're awash in words but it's easy going.

And so funny - Meg @ Mad But Magic reviewed Cinder yesterday! All thumbs up from her. If you want to check out her review (and our TTT) to see what you think, I'm pretty sure she'd give it a thumbs-up too.

For my part, I STILL haven't started any GoT books yet - too intimidated (not actually by size but from what I've heard about the level of violence) so I admire you for already getting through the first one!)

    Fun list :) :)
