Monday Bookish Confessions

I am wanting to try out this new feature on the blog and I hope that you all will like it. I'm planning on doing this feature every Monday. I find that I have some bookish confessions but I hope to find that I'm not the only one...

This week my confession is:

There are so many books to read! I'm nervous that I will never finish my tbr list and it's a little overwhelming to think that my list grows quicker than I am able to read the books on it. Will I ever read all the books that I want to? This guilt goes so far as that when I finish a book, I feel relieved because I got one more book read off of my endless tbr list. Sometimes I almost feel like I didn't enjoy the book as much as I should have because I was too concerned about finishing it in a certain amount of time so I can make sure I read x amount of books this week/month. Another contributor: I continually buy books even though I have a pile of books on my shelves that I have not read. This causes my guilt to spread since I'm only adding to my unread pile.

Occasionally I suffer from unread library book guilt. I feel bad when I return a book to the library that I wasn't able to read. This especially happens when I check out a bunch of books (like over 20) and then I read what I can but end up returning half of the books unread.

Ways I can relieve some guilt:

This is an idea I've heard going around. You write all your tbr books on little pieces of paper and then fold them up and place them in a jar. The book you draw from the jar is the book that you read next.

There are a few ways I can do this one. I can read 10 books that I pick out all at once or I can read as I go until I finish 10 books. The key for me, is that these ten books must be books that I own.
An example: I return 5 books to the library and of the those 5 books, I've read 3 of them. Therefore that time, I can only check out 3 books. This way I will have a manageable pile of books out from the library at a time.

Do you suffer from unread book guilt? How to you reduce your guilt? Have you tried a tbr jar before? If so, how did you like it? Have you put yourself on a limit of books to read before you buy more? If so, how did it work out?

I think everyone suffers from unread book guilt, haha. I think I'll try out the TBR jar soon only I want mine to be a really pretty jar so that I'll be motivated to actually go through with it. Makes sense?
