Day 14: Tell us your deal breakers.
I am not too picky on the books that I read and it is rare that I put a book down and not finish it. Here are my deal breakers for a book (I think that is what we are talking about):
- A cheesy, unrealistic love story - There are many things that are cheesy that I find endearing but if I find it repeatedly cheesy so that the story is no longer even remotely believable then I won't continue on.
- Annoying main character: This takes a lot for me to be annoyed with the main character. Weak characters, those that whine, those that make stupid choices over and over again, and those that my friend cleverly describe as "too stupid to die" characters.
- If I do put down a book it is usually within the first 50 pages. If I'm not into the book or don't feel potential for the book by this point, I won't continue with it.
I have a hard time putting down a book and rating it as DNF. I always feel like the book is alive and I'm killing it by not finishing it. I guess I'm OC about that. So far, I only have 2 DNF books. Interview with a Vampire I abandoned when there were only 20 pages to go. The Fallen Prince I didn't finish because I hadn't read the 1st book yet, HAHA!
